The foundation of a smart home is a solid home network so we usually start there. Our signature method is actually designed in order of importance. Whatever devices you install all of them will be able to be controlled by you in some way whether it be with your voice, your phone, a remote control or a touch screen in your home. The most common ones we find our customers use are doorbell cameras, smart door locks, wifi access points, security and alarm systems, smart speakers, smart thermostats and smart TV’s.

You can start to live in a smart home just by installing some smart lights and a doorbell camera. This can cost under $1,500. For our clients what we recommend for a true smart home experience is to start at $15,000. That budget will give you a great assortment of products that will allow for advanced features like routines and greater levels of control and convenience. The more products you install the more functionality your smart home will have. Our average smart home project usually costs between $45,000 – $90,000.

Although realtors and home evaluators are not exactly up to speed on this, Uplynk’s opinion is that yes they absolutely do add value to your home because they make your home better to live in. Smart home technology can reduce insurance costs, make your home more efficient and make your home way more fun to live in. The next generation of home buyers are only becoming more and more tech savvy and the desire for smart home technology is over 80% for millennials and industry trends show homes that do not have smart home technology in them will soon be considered outdated.
